An inadequate political class
Conte to unified networks in the hour of greatest listening, he spoke to the now anxious people of the Italians telling us that, with few symbolic exceptions, the reopening of factories, restaurants, schools and all activities has been postponed, for now, to 4 May.
Then, it attacks the sovereign oppositions for a long time, with the conspicuous exception of Berlusconi, who would spread falsehood, to exploit the political struggle, causing serious difficulties at international level in the very hard and very uncertain negotiation on Eurobonds.
A very serious accusation which is equivalent to that of high treason in a state of war, an unpublished accusation and for its heaviness never advanced by whatever in the past of our Republic.
That the opposition and in particular Salvini and Meloni have passed is little but sure.
How is it imaginable to continue shooting at zero elevation during an international negotiation in which our unfortunate Italy takes on the role of those who need and ask, treating the even tetragons and grim, as well as insensitive, peoples of Northern Europe with a kick in the face morning and one in the evening. They are certainly not the best conditions, not even the least, to try to build an acceptable compromise.
And while our oppositions from the trench engage the bayonets for the latest assault, the oppositions of the other European countries, while saving the face and role of oppositions, are careful not to wash the dirty clothes on the negotiating tables.
But Conte, still foaming for the summer tripping of Salvini, mindful of the historian, so to speak, well served to Salvini in front of millions of Italian astonished served nothing popped less than directly to the Chamber of Deputies, summoned and reconvened the cameras not he sends them to say neither to Salvini nor to Meloni.
It is the first time of a similar institutional breakdown, it is the first time that a premier exploits the hospitality of the state network to send opponents to that country when then President Mattarella had just recommended himself, as is done in these situations, to seek the points of convergence with the oppositions and never the reasons for disagreement. Here, however, we have come to the charge of high treason.
This is when at 18.00 every afternoon the head of the Civil Protection appears on television screens to rattle off the daily war bulletin, the sick, the wounded, the dead. Hundreds, thousands.
So we are no longer at Renzo’s chickens but at much more. Or to irresponsible people who imagine that the Italians like their personal and useless brawl more than the defeat of the pandemic and the recovery of Italy, the insults to the Dutchman on duty compared to a tough but peaceful European negotiation, the goals of the League or the M5S compared to those of the Italians and especially to those of our children and grandchildren.
The truth, perhaps, is where it is easier to find it. We are governed by politicians by chance, without culture and with little decency, by an inadequate political class.
